Key Focus:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and describe key sustainability frameworks, such as the Triple Bottom Line, Doughnut Economics, Planetary Boundaries, and the SDGs.
  2. Compare and contrast different frameworks in terms of their focus areas (social, environmental, economic), origin, and application contexts.
  3. Analyse the relevance and limitations of each framework in addressing contemporary global sustainability challenges.
  4. Apply selected frameworks to real-world problems or case studies to evaluate how they guide decision-making and action.
  5. Reflect on how theoretical frameworks can shape business practices, policy, and education in sustainability.

  1. Define ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and explain its growing importance in global investment, business strategy, and regulatory compliance.
  2. Differentiate between ESG and traditional sustainability frameworks, understanding how ESG translates sustainability into measurable, reportable criteria for businesses and investors.
  3. Identify the current status, challenges, and opportunities of ESG adoption in Nepal, including regulatory trends, corporate practices, and investor interest.
  4. Explore practical examples of ESG reporting and integration in the Nepali context and contrast them with international standards.
  5. Evaluate the role of ESG in enhancing business accountability, risk management, and stakeholder trust in emerging economies like Nepal.
