Prof Sharon Locke

Introduction

Dr. Locke is professor of environmental sciences at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she teaches courses in environmental science, sustainability, and watershed management and conservation. Her main interest is community-engaged research, where universities partner with community organizations and local governments to solve environmental problems through collaboration. Through these partnerships, her students have developed city greenhouse gas inventories for several small cities in the St. Louis metropolitan region, as well as conducted public outreach on water resource management. Dr. Locke received her PhD from the University of Minnesota's Limnological Research Center, where she studied the impact of climate change on lake-groundwater interactions. Dr. Locke holds global leadership roles in geoscience education and was recognized with a Fulbright Specialist award to conduct research and teaching in Indonesia.
